Charles Albert Tindley Begins Composing Gospel Hymns

Rev. Charles Albert Tindley, pastor of Bainbridge Street Methodist Church in Philadelphia, began composing gospel hymns including 'I'll Overcome Someday,' which would later inspire the civil rights anthem 'We Shall Overcome,' making him the father of African American gospel music.
