National Urban League Formally Incorporated

The National Urban League was formally incorporated in New York City in 1911, merging three existing Black welfare organizations. Led by Eugene Kinckle Jones, the League focused on economic opportunity, job placement, housing, and social services for Black migrants arriving in Northern cities. It became a major institutional force for Black urban advancement throughout the twentieth century.
