Delta Sigma Theta Founders March in Washington Suffrage Parade
Just weeks after founding their sorority, twenty-two members of Delta Sigma Theta marched in the Woman Suffrage Procession in Washington D.C. on March 3, 1913, the day before Woodrow Wilson's inauguration. Despite pressure from white organizers to march at the back, the Howard women asserted their place, making a powerful statement about Black women's role in the suffrage movement.
