HBCU Football Rivalry Games Draw Thousands of Black Fans

Games between Tuskegee Institute, Howard University, Morehouse College, and other HBCUs drew thousands of Black spectators across the South and mid-Atlantic, creating a thriving Black football culture completely separate from the segregated major programs. These games served as major social events for Black communities and developed generations of Black coaching and playing talent.
