Tuskegee Institute Agricultural Research Program Expands Under Carver

George Washington Carver expanded his agricultural research program at Tuskegee Institute, developing hundreds of products from peanuts, sweet potatoes, and other Southern crops to reduce Black farmers' dependence on cotton. His Jesup Wagon, an early mobile agricultural extension service, brought practical farming knowledge directly to rural Black communities throughout Alabama.
