Morehouse College Strengthens Identity as Black Men's Liberal Arts Institution

Morehouse College in Atlanta, renamed from Atlanta Baptist College in 1913 in honor of Baptist leader Henry Morehouse, developed its identity as a rigorous liberal arts institution for Black men under President John Hope. The college produced business leaders, educators, and ministers who filled critical roles in Black community development, establishing the tradition of the 'Morehouse Man.'
