W.E.B. Du Bois Organizes Pan-African Congress at Paris Peace Conference

W.E.B. Du Bois organized the first Pan-African Congress in Paris in February 1919, coinciding with the Paris Peace Conference. Delegates from African colonies, the Caribbean, and the United States called for international attention to the rights of African peoples and an end to colonial exploitation. Though the conference had limited immediate impact, it established the Pan-African Congress movement.
