The Negro World Becomes Most Widely Circulated Black Newspaper
By 1920, Marcus Garvey's weekly newspaper The Negro World—featuring political commentary, Pan-Africanist thought, and Black cultural news—had become one of the most widely circulated Black newspapers in the world, with an international readership across the U.S., Caribbean, Africa, and Europe. Published in English, Spanish, and French, it spread UNIA ideology and served as a model of Black press internationalism. Colonial authorities in several African nations banned it.
