Oscar Charleston Dominates Negro Leagues as Era's Greatest Player

Throughout the 1920s, Oscar Charleston—playing for Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Harrisburg—established himself as the greatest all-around player in the Negro Leagues. A center fielder of extraordinary range and a powerful hitter with a career .364 batting average, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1976.
