Alain Locke Continues Editing and Championing Black Arts and Letters

Howard University philosopher and critic Alain Locke, whose 1925 anthology The New Negro had defined the Harlem Renaissance, continued through the 1930s as the movement's preeminent critical voice, writing annual retrospective essays in Opportunity magazine that assessed and promoted Black creative achievement.
