Charles Hamilton Houston Transforms Howard University Law School

As vice dean and then dean, Houston transformed Howard Law School from an unaccredited night school into a rigorous, ABA-accredited institution explicitly training what he called 'social engineers' — Black lawyers equipped to dismantle segregation in court. His students included Thurgood Marshall.
