George S. Schuyler Publishes Black No More

Schuyler's satirical novel — in which a machine turns Black Americans white — is widely considered the first science fiction novel by an African American author and a devastating satire of American racial obsession. It skewered both white racism and Black nationalist movements with equal sharpness.
