John Henry Lewis Wins World Light Heavyweight Title

John Henry Lewis defeated Bob Olin in fifteen rounds to claim the world light heavyweight championship, becoming one of only a handful of Black champions in the era. He held the title until 1938 and was a close friend and sparring partner of Joe Louis.
