Black American Athletes Win Fourteen Medals at 1936 Berlin Olympics
Eighteen Black American athletes competed at the Berlin Olympics, winning fourteen medals including eight gold, utterly disproving Nazi racial theories about Aryan athletic supremacy in front of Adolf Hitler. Beyond Owens, athletes including Archie Williams, John Woodruff, Cornelius Johnson, and Louise Stokes contributed to a historic collective achievement.
