Waters Turpin Publishes These Low Grounds

Turpin's debut novel traced four generations of a Black family from slavery through the Great Migration, making him the first Black novelist to attempt a multi-generational saga of African American experience. The novel received strong critical notices and positioned Turpin as a major new literary voice.
