A. Philip Randolph Proposes Mass March Concept at BSCP Convention

Building on the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters' successful union contract, Randolph began articulating the concept of a mass Black march on Washington to demand economic equality and an end to discrimination in federal employment, a concept he would execute in 1941 and that inspired the 1963 March on Washington.
