Pittsburgh Courier launches Double V Campaign
The Pittsburgh Courier launched the Double V Campaign in February 1942, demanding two victories: over the Axis abroad and over racism and segregation at home. Sparked by a letter from James G. Thompson, the campaign recruited 200,000 members, gained NAACP endorsement, and was one of the most visible civil rights mobilizations of the war years.
