Gordon Parks documents the 332nd Fighter Group in Italy

After the FSA was absorbed into the Office of War Information in 1943, Gordon Parks was embedded with the 332nd Fighter Group (Tuskegee Airmen) in Italy, creating one of the most important photographic records of Black military service in World War II. Parks's visual documentation provided evidence of Black excellence and sacrifice that contradicted the logic of segregation.
