Negro Leagues World Series — Homestead Grays vs. Birmingham Black Barons

The 1944 Negro Leagues World Series featured the Homestead Grays (NNL champions, led by Josh Gibson and Buck Leonard) against the Birmingham Black Barons (NAL champions). The Grays won the Series, continuing their dominance as the premier franchise of Black baseball at its peak institutional moment before integration. The Negro Leagues drew some of their highest wartime attendance as Black workers with wartime wages filled stadiums.
