Elizabeth Catlett Creates Sculpture in Mexico

Elizabeth Catlett, who had relocated to Mexico following State Department harassment of her political activities, continued producing monumental sculptures and prints celebrating Black womanhood at the Taller de Gráfica Popular. Her work powerfully combined social realism with African and Mexican aesthetic traditions.
