Frank Yerby Continues as America's First Black Bestselling Novelist

Frank Yerby continued his remarkable run of historical bestsellers, becoming the first Black author to sell over one million copies of a novel with The Foxes of Harrow (1946). By the early 1950s Yerby had published a string of popular historical romances, achieving mainstream commercial success that no Black novelist had previously sustained.
