HBCUs Publish Significant Scientific Research

Throughout the early 1950s, faculty at HBCUs including Howard, Tuskegee, and Meharry Medical College continued publishing important scientific research despite receiving a fraction of the funding of comparable white institutions. These institutions trained over 75% of Black physicians and a majority of Black scientists during the era of segregation.
