Greensboro Sit-In Launches National Lunch Counter Movement

Four Black students from NC A&T — Ezell Blair Jr., Franklin McCain, Joseph McNeil, and David Richmond — sat at a Woolworth's lunch counter and refused to leave when denied service. Within weeks the sit-in tactic spread to 54 cities, directly pressuring desegregation.
