Mary Jackson Becomes NASA's First Black Female Engineer

Jackson successfully petitioned to attend advanced engineering classes at a segregated Virginia school, completing the requirements to become NASA Langley's first Black female aeronautical engineer in 1958. Throughout the 1960s she worked on wind tunnel data that contributed to the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs.
