Howard University Medical School Celebrates 100 Years of Training Black Physicians

Howard University College of Medicine, founded in 1868, had by the late 1960s trained over half of all Black physicians in the United States. During the civil rights era its graduates staffed the majority of hospitals serving Black communities across the South.
