Poor People's Campaign Establishes Resurrection City in Washington

SCLC carried out King's vision of an interracial coalition against poverty, erecting 'Resurrection City' of 3,000 demonstrators on the National Mall. Though ultimately dispersed, it broadened the civil rights movement beyond race to class and economic justice.
