Motown Records Moves Headquarters from Detroit to Los Angeles

Motown Records, founded by Berry Gordy in Detroit, having already moved to Los Angeles in the early 1970s, continues its operations through the 1980s as a Black-owned major label. The decade sees Gordy selling Motown to MCA in 1988 in a landmark Black business transaction.
