Kiese Laymon publishes Heavy: An American Memoir

Laymon's memoir addressed to his mother explored the intersection of Black masculinity, obesity, addiction, abuse, and the American South with extraordinary candor. Heavy won the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction and was named one of the best books of the year by dozens of publications.
