HBO's Watchmen brings Tulsa Race Massacre to prestige television

The HBO limited series Watchmen, created by Damon Lindelof and starring Regina King, opened with a visceral recreation of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and built a narrative about the long aftermath of racial violence in America. It won 11 Emmy Awards including Outstanding Limited Series and Outstanding Lead Actress for King.
