Ava DuVernay's 'Origin' Adapts Isabel Wilkerson's 'Caste'

Ava DuVernay wrote, produced, and directed 'Origin,' a cinematic adaptation of Isabel Wilkerson's 'Caste' starring Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor as Wilkerson. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and offered a rare example of a Black female filmmaker adapting a Black female journalist's intellectual work.
