African Meeting House Completed in Boston, Oldest Black Church Building Surviving

The African Meeting House on Beacon Hill in Boston was dedicated in December 1806, built largely by Black craftsmen. It served as church, school, and community hall for Boston's Black community and became a hub of abolitionist activity. It is today the oldest Black church building still standing in the United States.
