Anna Julia Cooper Publishes 'A Voice from the South'
Anna Julia Cooper, educator and intellectual, published 'A Voice from the South by a Black Woman of the South,' one of the earliest and most sophisticated works of Black feminist thought. Cooper argued that the advancement of Black Americans required the elevation of Black women, challenging both racial and gender hierarchies simultaneously. The text remains a foundational document in both African American intellectual history and feminist theory.
