Aprille Ericsson becomes first Black woman aerospace PhD from MIT

Aprille Ericsson earned her PhD in aerospace engineering from MIT, becoming the first Black woman to do so, and the first Black woman to receive a PhD in engineering from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's engineering directorate. She went on to play a key role in NASA instrument development for planetary missions.
