Bert Williams and George Walker Star in "In Dahomey" on Broadway

Bert Williams and George Walker's musical comedy "In Dahomey" opened at the New York Theatre on Broadway, becoming the first full-length musical written and performed by African Americans to appear on Broadway. The show later toured Britain and performed for King Edward VII at Buckingham Palace. Williams and Walker were the preeminent Black entertainers of the era, and their success opened doors for Black theatrical performance.
