Coretta Scott King founds the King Center

In the immediate aftermath of her husband's assassination, Coretta Scott King founded the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta, establishing the world's leading institution for education and research on nonviolent activism. She spent four decades ensuring King's legacy and continuing the movement, successfully leading the campaign to establish his birthday as a federal holiday.
