Duke Ellington Records "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)"
Ellington and vocalist Ivie Anderson recorded this anthem, whose title coined the very term "swing" as a cultural concept before the Swing Era officially began. The song became one of the most recognizable jazz compositions of the twentieth century and a defining statement of Black musical vitality.
