Edward P. Jones wins Pulitzer Prize for The Known World

Jones' debut novel, exploring the little-known history of Black slaveholders in antebellum Virginia, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the National Book Critics Circle Award. It is considered one of the most formally and historically ambitious novels of the early twenty-first century.
