Fats Domino's 'Ain't That a Shame' Becomes a Crossover Hit

Fats Domino's 'Ain't That a Shame' became a major pop crossover hit in the summer of 1955, reaching the top five on the pop charts and making Domino one of the first Black rock and roll artists to achieve mainstream white audiences in the rock era. His New Orleans boogie-woogie piano style and warm voice made him one of the best-selling recording artists of the entire decade. Between 1955 and 1960 Domino sold more records than any artist except Elvis Presley.
