Fisk Jubilee Singers Continue International Touring, Preserving Spirituals

The Fisk Jubilee Singers from Fisk University continued their international tours through the early 1900s, performing African American spirituals for audiences across the United States, Europe, and beyond. Their work preserved an oral musical tradition that might otherwise have been lost and introduced the world to the depth of Black sacred music. The ensemble is credited with legitimizing African American musical forms on the global concert stage.
