George Washington Carver Earns Bachelor's Degree from Iowa State
George Washington Carver earned a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State Agricultural College in 1894, the first Black graduate of that institution. His talent was so evident he was invited to remain for a master's degree. In 1896 Booker T. Washington recruited him to Tuskegee, where he would transform Southern agriculture with research on peanuts, sweet potatoes, and soil renewal.
