Ida B. Wells Launches Pioneering Anti-Lynching Journalism
After the lynching of her friend Thomas Moss in Memphis, Ida B. Wells published Southern Horrors: Lynch Law in All Its Phases in 1892, the first systematic investigative journalism on lynching in America. Her data-driven research destroyed the myth that lynching punished crime and built an international anti-lynching movement, making her a founder of American investigative journalism.
