Ida B. Wells launches anti-lynching campaign
After the lynching of three of her friends in Memphis, journalist Ida B. Wells began a fearless investigative campaign exposing the epidemic of lynching in America, publishing 'Southern Horrors: Lynch Law in All Its Phases' in 1892. Her relentless journalism and international speaking tours laid the groundwork for federal anti-lynching legislation and established her as one of the founders of the civil rights movement.
