June Jordan publishes Things That I Do in the Dark

Jordan's selected poems established her as one of the most versatile and politically engaged poets of the twentieth century, addressing race, gender, sexuality, and global justice simultaneously. Her later founding of Poetry for the People at UC Berkeley trained hundreds of young poets in activist craft.
