NAACP Launches Sustained Anti-Lynching Campaign and Legal Advocacy Program
In its early years under Moorfield Storey's legal leadership, the NAACP mounted the first sustained national legal and investigative campaign against lynching, publishing detailed reports on racial violence, lobbying Congress for federal anti-lynching legislation, and launching test cases against segregation. This work laid the legal and organizational foundations for decades of civil rights litigation.
