National Baptist Convention Founded with 1.5 Million Members

The National Baptist Convention was founded in Atlanta in September 1895, consolidating three Black Baptist organizations into a single body representing approximately 1.5 million members, making it the largest Black organization in the United States at founding. It provided an institutional foundation for Black community life, education, and eventually civil rights activism.
