National Baptist Convention USA Founded

The National Baptist Convention USA was founded in Atlanta in 1895 through the merger of three Black Baptist organizations, becoming the largest Black religious organization in America. Under its auspices, Black churches functioned as community centers, schools, insurance providers, and political organizing hubs across the South and North.
