Oba Ewuare the Great Rebuilds Benin City

Oba Ewuare the Great reconstructs Benin City with broad boulevards, a royal palace complex, and a moat system extending over 10,000 miles, the world's largest earthworks. He codifies succession law, expands the empire through military campaigns, and establishes the guilds of bronze casters and ivory carvers that produce Benin's celebrated art.
