Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly with His Song" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Flack became the first artist to win Record of the Year in consecutive years, having won for "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" in 1973.
