Run-DMC bridges hip-hop and rock with 'Walk This Way'

Run-DMC's collaboration with Aerosmith on 'Walk This Way' became the first hip-hop song to reach the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 and was the first rap video in heavy rotation on MTV. The record legitimized hip-hop for mainstream white audiences and opened the door for crossover rap.
