W.E.B. Du Bois Publishes "The Souls of Black Folk"
W.E.B. Du Bois published this landmark collection of essays introducing the concepts of "double consciousness" and "the color line" as central to Black American experience. The book challenged Booker T. Washington's accommodationist philosophy and became a foundational text of Black intellectual and political thought. It remains one of the most influential works in American literature and sociology.
